Companies will secure the critical sensors, autonomous vehicles, and infrastructure required for agriculture.

Washington, D.C. October 13, 2023 – URSA Inc. and Kirkwall will partner to secure critical technology for the agricultural industry. The partners will integrate URSA’s DARPA funded Wolfhound Firmware Security Framework with Kirkwall’s agribusiness cybersecurity systems to address growing cybersecurity concerns in agriculture sector.

The combined development effort will secure the critical sensors, autonomous vehicles, and infrastructure required for uninterrupted worldwide food cultivation, production, and distribution.

Kirkwall, founded and based in North Dakota, develops the hardware and software that ensures modern cybersecurity protections in autonomous systems for agribusiness.

“Kirkwall’s mission is to serve and protect the many developing and expanding industries at home in North Dakota,” said William Cromarty, Founder and CEO of Kirkwall.

“Agriculture adopts and relies on technology just like any industry. Agricultural machines, used to plant and harvest crops, such as automatic crop sprayers, drones, and robotic harvesters all have vulnerabilities to hackers and other bad actors.”

URSA and Kirkwall will integrate URSA’s Wolfhound Firmware Security Framework within Kirkwall’s hardware and software platform.

URSA’s Wolfhound automatically finds and kills all malicious firmware capabilities across every device in an ecosystem.

“We are very happy to work with Kirkwall to improve critical needs for cyber security in the agricultural industry. Their platform, ingenuity, and commitment are a perfect fit with URSA as we work to secure the systems and devices that we all depend on” said David Kovar, Founder and CEO of URSA Inc.

The Wolfhound Framework was developed as a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) funded solution to cyber attacks against firmware in defense, healthcare, manufacturing, and industrial control systems.
